A rider hangs in the air against a pale sky, the bike turned sideways beneath him. At Phoenix Cycleworks, a set of big dirt jumps first spotted from the motorway, the riders known as the Woodyard Boys keep going into the evening, and this action and lifestyle photography goes with them.
Matt Harris, usually on a BMX, tries something different on a downhill bike. James Bentley, tattooed and fearless, sends the jumps hard, until one landing snaps his crank clean off and leaves his leg battered and bruised... It only adds to the story. As the light goes, the frames get punchier, and the downtime between runs carries as much as the jumps.
