Lido

Steam lifts off the water at Charlton Lido in south-east London, and a red cap breaks the surface.

This swimming photography is part of Join the Movement, Sport England's campaign to get the country moving again after lockdown, across 17 sports at grassroots level, from London to Penzance. Disabled and non-disabled people take part side by side, and the images are given free to community groups to help raise participation.

The session starts at an hour best not written down. The frames sit at the waterline and below it, close enough to share the cold. It is about the first step out of the door, and the feeling of moving again.
